In Memory of Brian McMorran
It is with heartfelt sadness that we share the passing of Brian McMorran, a long-standing member and former president of the Kamloops Flying Club.
Brian began his teaching career in Kamloops in 1962. Over the years, he dedicated himself to education, serving as a teacher and eventually as a principal in several local schools. His leadership extended beyond the classroom and into the skies, where he found both joy and community in aviation.
A passionate pilot, Brian was an active member of the Kamloops Flying Club for many years, serving a term as president. Alongside his beloved wife Pat, he co-owned a number of aircraft over the years, including two Cessna 172s (FDT and ZCH), a Lake Amphibian, and a Bonanza. Together, they embarked on countless flying adventures, with memorable trips to destinations like Reno, Bar Q Ranch, Sun River (Oregon), and many more. His love for aviation was matched only by the camaraderie he found among fellow pilots.
After retirement, Brian relocated to Kelowna and later settled in Peachland. He spent many winters at Palm Desert Greens, where he embraced another of his passions—motorcycling. There, he made many friends and explored the highways and byways of Southern California on two wheels.
As per the family’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. Brian will be fondly remembered by his fellow aviators and all who had the pleasure of knowing him—for his warmth, his stories, and his lifelong love of flight.
Blue skies and tailwinds, Brian.
